Gut rehab of a 3400 square foot, high floor apartment in downtown Chicago with dramatic Lake Michigan and Chicago River views. Condo plan had been compartmentalized including a separate kitchen area; the new layout removed many of the interior partitions placing the kitchen in a loft space merging Living and Dining areas. The partition separating Master Bedroom from Living Room was also removed and replaced with custom 9’ lacquered doors which pivot into pockets allowing the Master Suite to be part of the Living Room when the homeowners are home alone, but closed off when guests are present. The Master Suite was reconfigured with the removal of a bathroom to create a Sitting Area.
An interior bedroom was reconfigured into a Yoga/Guest Room which is now directly accessed from Master Bedroom. This space can be closed off with full-height recessed wood panels and is outfitted with a built-in Murphy bed. All the bathrooms were reconfigured and finished with oversized porcelain panels, floor and wall. New custom wood paneling and cabinetry throughout utilizing ALPI recon veneers. Stainless mesh panels set in operable panels provide necessary air flow for electronic home control panels as well as air handlers, effectively concealing these systems.
